Posted on

Summer has arrived and it is time for us to take off our swimsuits, shorts, floral dresses and get ready to have a lot of fun at the beach, swimming and drinking our favorite fruit juices. Although summer gives us the opportunity to participate in so many fun activities, the intense rays of the sun can be very damaging to our skin. Don’t worry, you can still enjoy yourself, look beautiful, and stay healthy just by following the 10 simple tips given below.

10. Always use a sunscreen

This is something that everyone knows but that many people neglect. You should use sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 before leaving your house. If you have sensitive skin, a mineral-based sunscreen would be best for you. Avoid staying in the sun between 10 am and 4 pm when the sun’s rays are strongest and most damaging. However, if you will have to go outside during this time, be sure to reapply your sunscreen once every 2-3 hours.

9. Do not forget your lips

You have used the best sunscreen on all exposed parts of your body and you think you are completely safe, well think again. One part that most people neglect is their lips. The sun can also damage your lips, so they also need protection. Balms and lipsticks with SPF are available, so be sure to use them.

8. Eat right

You should always be careful what you eat, but this becomes even more important during the summer. If you eat even a little more than your stomach allows, you can easily bloat. Try to eat as light as you can and stick with fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those that are rich in water. Stay away from rich, fried foods and sweets as they are not only harmful to your health but can easily cause skin problems during the summer.

7. Drink lots of smoothies

Fruit smoothies taste great, they are very healthy, they can quench your thirst and keep you hydrated. However, you should avoid shakes that include ice cream, as they are very high in calories and will not do you any good. You should go for smoothies that are made from fruit, ice, and low-fat yogurt. You can use any fruit you like or more than one put them in your blender, and enjoy them cold and fresh.

6. Drink as many glasses of water as you can

Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water is necessary throughout the year, but it becomes even more important during the summer months. Since you sweat a lot during the summer, you lose more water and therefore need to drink more to avoid dehydration. If you can’t drink a lot of water, you can go for coconut water, green tea, or just add some frozen fruit cubes to your glass and make your water taste flavored.

5. Exercise regularly

Yes, it is summer, the temperature is so high and exercise will make you sweat more. This does not mean that you will not exercise during the summer months. You can’t go for a walk if it’s too hot outside, instead, you can join an aerobics or yoga class, or a gym, so you can work out indoors. But exercising regularly is a must.

4. Go swimming

In winters you must have opted for jogging and running, as that would increase your body temperature and help you lose weight. If this all seemed boring to you, be glad it’s summer. Now you can go swimming alone, or with friends, have a good time while also enjoying good exercise. You can start swimming for about 10 minutes and gradually increase the time. If you can swim for 30 minutes, you can burn 400 calories.

3. Exfoliate

The summer months increase dead skin cells, so you should exfoliate your skin regularly if you want healthy, smooth skin. You don’t need to buy the expensive skin scrubs available on the market and can instead make one at home. You can combine a handful of oatmeal, some yogurt, and milk and use it to exfoliate your skin.

2. Keep your hair protected

Our hair happens a lot during the summer and that is why it needs special attention. If you plan to go swimming regularly, be sure to invest in an anti-chlorine shampoo and conditioner to neutralize the effect that chlorine can have on your hair. Try not to use hair dryers or other heating products as much as possible. When possible, cover your hair with your scarf so that you can protect it from the harmful rays of the sun.

1. Accessories smartly

Wearing sunscreen will certainly protect your skin, but you need to be extra careful. Wear a wide-brimmed hat or umbrella to keep your face protected from harmful UV rays. Also, wear sunglasses so that the delicate area around your eyes remains well protected. If possible, try to wear long-sleeved clothing when out in the sun to avoid tanning.

Following these simple tips will definitely help you look gorgeous all summer long. Together with it, you will also be healthy and fit, and thus you can enjoy even the warmest days of the year without the slightest problem.
