Sooryavanshi is the fourth installment in Shetty’s Police Universe and features Akshay Kumar as the main character opposite Katrina Kaif. The film co-stars Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer, Vivan Bhatena, and Javed Jaffrey, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles as Singham and Us from previous films in the franchise.
The character of Akshay Kumar was announced towards the end of Us which served as an introduction to the character of Sooryavanshi. He plays DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the head of the Anti-Terror Squad. Originally scheduled for release on March 24, 2020, the film was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. It is now scheduled to be released in 2021.
